Many of you have probably seen the latest speakers that come with 'good' multimedia systems. I've seen them especially on Gateway 2000 computers but I'm sure they're not the only culprits.

They give WONDERFUL sound but they are just so blooming big! Those sub-woofer sections are the worst culprits: Huge things.

A new technology is on the way to save the day (as usual). Flat speaker systems will soon be available. They give good sound quality and quite a wide range of volumes. This means LCD screens could double up as speakers. We could hang speakers on our walls and generally save a lot of space. Also we could improve their positioning.

There's only one downer. They still need those big sub-woofer sections. Bummer.
