Wired UK is closing down, as discussed in Vision. There were many reasons but one was that the US management misjudged and misunderstood the UK magazine market.

Us Brits don't like things which are too different, on the other hand Americans do. Wired UK was very different to the lad-tech magazines it was competing against. Also the market here is very competitive. There can be four or five magazines competing in the same niche. In the US you might expect the same number of magazines competing for as many as ten times more readers!

Brits expect facts and humour, not loads of utopian digital possibility articles. When it comes down to it there was a culture clash. Which is a shame, a damn shame, the UK lost out.
