Back for the third week, in his usual cameo role....
I think that one thing that annoys me is the way that people really don't give each other the respect they deserve. You can see examples of this in the computer world and outside it. I think the reason is that, as a race, we have an underlying need to put the other guy down. This can be fun, sure, but constant competition surely must get in the way of true friendship.
Friends that actually are friends (rather than "mates") should probably not be doing this all the time. If you think about it all it can do is damage a relationship really. You can see examples of it everywhere where friends take the piss out of each other, and in the scene where people squabble over whose demos are the best.
This is a cliche, but we should accept each other for what we are. And seeing as I have used one cliche, I may as well use another... Beauty is only skin deep. This is why 'e-mail dating' is so great. You don't have the chance to judge someone on first impressions and you can get to know their character before you get to know them. Of course the time taken is longer but I believe netizens have the basis for future of relationships.
So this is not strictly a groan, but a call to people of all races, religions, beliefs and music tastes to get together and talk nicely.
And a message to people who consistently spam newsgroups. Please don't bother.... you waste about 2GB of net bandwidth per day, and just piss everyone else off.
Here's a poem for you:
What we had - a dream exciting,
smashed by life, and useless writing,
Wherever we look, nothings there,
Life is burnt out, laid bare.
cya.
