What's the Point? [cast]

back

The majority of current users are business men. Yes, I mean men, actually young men. Maybe they're just doing it because its cool? Probably some of them are, but don't forget that they're not paying for the connection, which probably stays online permanently anyway.

The weirdest thing is that this push media kicks in when you're not using your computer. So if you're not there all that wonderful news appears. Or maybe you're doing something else at your desk, do you want the distraction of new stuff appearing on your screen the whole time?

Above all the whole push concept seems to be old media repackaged as new. Trying to fit the old and threatened media into new slots to keep it profitable. If we'd have wanted to stick to broadcasting the Net would never have been so successful. If you want the latest news on male netball then go to the relevant site. If you want anything else you need then go and find it, and you get exactly want you want.

PointCast isn't cool, it isn't in and it certainly isn't wired. Push technology is a dead end and it just isn't the way forward. Keep interactive, keep wired.
