With services like Pointcast, CNN Online as well as the ubiquitous Reuters news seems to have become the only thing important these days. Other sites have begun repackaging news in their own frames and advertising at little cost to themselves.
News is everywhere but with this awesome proliferation I'm beginning to question what is news exactly?
My view is that news is about something that has happened which is relevant and important to your life.
Getting exactly that everytime is impossible and I'm glad it is. That means I get those different and interesting articles which I might not otherwise read. It keeps you broadminded. But on the other hand you can have too much news.
Maybe the answer is to offer services which specialise in only one type of news. Instead of trying to do everything, they should concentrate on just hardware developments or just swimming results. But maybe that's not practical amd then you're less likely to get the wildcard articles. But get a service too large and you risk too few controlling too much. Any thoughts? E-mail me!
