Application overload prevention

The Clean Power VFD is monitoring the motor current to detect an application overload.

If the current drawn by the motor exceeds the threshold value, which lasts longer than the inhibition delay, then the fault is triggered.

When a fault is triggered, the action can be selected between:

  • ramp down to stop

  • coast to stop (default setting)

The value of the overload threshold can be set by the user between 75% and 200% of the motor FLA (Full load Amp).

The default setting is 110%.

A settable inhibition delay prevents false fault triggering. This delay can be set by the user from 0s to 600s, its default value is 60s.

Fault reset and motor restart:

When the current drawn by the motor falls below 10% of the overload threshold value, a fault reset time is started.

When this timer has elapsed, the motor can be restarted.

Fault reset time is settable between 0 to 600 s - default value: 60s

Recommended settings:

For normal duty light loads: set the threshold between 110% and 120% of motor FLA with a 60s delay.

For heavy-duty loads: set the threshold between 150% and 160% of motor FLA with a 60s delay.
