Inaddition to thecountry’sartisticroots, it’salsoknown for its
traditionalarchitecture,notably thecommuneCorund,whichhasa
woodenchurchdating from1723,dedicated to thearchangelsMichael
andGabriel.Thechurchwas initiallybuiltonahill in themiddleof the
cemetery,but in1868 itwasmovedusingblocks to thecentreof the
village300maway.Thechurchhasarectangular formand is theoldest
folkartmonument in theCodruarea.Visitorscanrecognise thechurch
from farawaydue to its tall, slender tower.Theentranceportal feels
grand,while the interior features temperamuralsbyŢiplePopa.The
paintingstarts in thenarthex,depicting theLast Judgment from the
Byzantineempire.Painted to therightof theentry isLucifer,while the
vaultresembleswesternbaroqueart.Thechurch issacred in termsofart
and literature,housingreligiousbook from the18thand19thcenturies.
