What’s so special about this place?
“The Arno has always played a part in
my life. I used to be in a rowing team, so
I was forever training or racing. These
days, I often go fishing, something I’ve
been keen on since I was a child.
“Lungarno Buozzi, outside the B&B,
is a perfect spot – you can catch all
sorts, including chub, carp, sea bass
and the odd eel, so you’ll often find
me here of an afternoon, alone or with
friends. We always throw the fish back.”
Where do you go afterwards?
“One of my favourite bars, ArnoVivo
(
arnovivo.it
), is down by the water
near the B&B, while a bit further along
there’s a floating restaurant, Argini e
Margini (
arginiemargini.com
). Piazza
Garibaldi buzzes all year round too, as
does Piazza della Berlina [aka Piazza
Cairoli, as locals still use the old name].”
When’s best to visit?
“There’s something special in every
season: spring, autumn, even winter.
In June, I never miss the San Ranieri
regatta, when all the elegant palazzi
flanking the river are lit with tiny lights.”
