BE NOSY
Get cozy in the Mayor of Amsterdam’s front
room during the Chambres des Canaux
exhibition. Giving access to art in notable
canal houses, including the Mayor’s official
residence, it’s a great chance to have a good
old snoop.

LAST CHANCE
If you’ve not yet caught the Venice Biennale, and don’t
want to wait for the next instalment in 2015, head to the
pavilions before they close on the 24th.

PLAY SOME HUNGER
GAMES
As Katniss and the rest return to the
big screen this month for
Catching
Fire
, part two of the teenage
grudge-match saga, there’s no better
time to try some
Hunger Games
of
your own. OK, so you won’t find
many places that offer actual fights to
the death (that tends to be somewhat
frowned upon outside Panem), but
the Hunger Games Training Camp in
Sussex gives the closest
approximation we’ve found. Kids
aged 10 plus, and adults too, spend
the day in an arena deep in the forest,
learning self-defence, weapon-
making and survival skills before a
great battle-based finale between
‘districts’. Sounds likely to satisfy the
most brutal of appetites.

PAY BY THE HOUR
Thanks to the
coworking trend,
Paris’s newest café
has a rather
unusual way of
doing things. Instead of shelling out for
drinks, punters pay by time spent
inside. Coffee, fruit, wi-fi and even the
use of board games are included in the
fee, which starts from just €2 an hour.
