JULY 2015
PERSPECTIVE
HUNGARIANGRANDPRIXTIME
This year’s Grand Prix, staged at the Hungaroring inMogyoród,
remains one of themost eagerly anticipated on the Formula
One calendar. The track is narrow and difficult, so
the race isn’t just about who’s in the fastest car.
The drama is further heightened if theweather
breaks and rain falls as it did in 2014. In dry
conditions, theMercedes cars of Rosberg
andHamilton dominated Practice and
Qualifying. On the day of the race, though,
thunderstorms rolled in, throwing plans into
chaos. Daniel Ricciardowon his first Grand Prix of the season
for Red Bull with Fernando Alonso coming in second, ahead of
the two pre-race favourites. The fall-out was controversial, too,
after it was revealed that Hamilton – chasing
Rosberg in the Driver’s Championship– had
disobeyed team instructions, refusing to let his
teammate pass at a vital stage late in proceedings.
Gripping stuff. Expectmore of the same on 26 July.
