Tiger sign for Ranthambore National Park.  Before Independence, the forests of Ranthambhore were the preserve of the maharajas of Jaipur who frequently hunted here, and royal hunts go back to the 12th century AD.

Entrance/fee area - when the vehicles first arrive in the morning this area is mobbed by vendors (which we later called "hat babblers").

Oasis in a tight canyon before entering the park proper.

Arch entrance.

Checkpoint.

Note elephant/tiger art on the walls.

Peafowl, rock pigeons, parakeets, and spotted doves were fairly common here.

Impressive 1000-year old fortress built into the bluff above.  Note the monkey on the little "temple" in the left foreground.

More fortress.

Lake that was good for waterfowl, crocodiles, kingfishers...

Note the fortress again above.

Not sure what this was for; hunting parties perhaps?

Outside the vehicle / outside the park (since you couldn't get out in the park).

Walking down the road outside the park.

Camels are still a pretty common sight here.
