They finished the season with a 7-4 overall record and a 3-4 CSIC record. The Griffons won their third Mineral Water Bowl in 2005, defeating Concordia-St. Paul 35-23. Missouri Western finished the season with a 9-3 overall record and a 6-2 record in the MIAA. The 1977 team was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010. The team won the Boot Hill Bowl by a score of 35-30 over Benedictine on November 19, 1977. They finished the season with an 8-2-1 overall record and a 4-2-1 CSIC record. Missouri Western first competed in the Mineral Water Bowl in 1975. Missouri Western defeated Graceland 44-0 and finished with a 8-3-1 overall record. Missouri Western won its fourth Mineral Water Bowl Championship in 2007 by defeating the Wayne State (Neb.) Wildcats, 20-14. Overall, the Griffons finished 9-3. Missouri Western made its first trip to the NCAA Division II National Playoffs in 2006. The Griffons took on Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas, and finished the season with a 9-3 overall record and a 7-2 MIAA record. Missouri Western won its fifth Mineral Water Bowl Championship in 2009 by defeating Augustana College (S.D.), 34-21. Overall, the Griffons finished 9-3, which was the fifth team in seven season with nine wins. Missouri Western made its second trip to the NCAA Division II National Playoffs in 2010. The Griffons took on Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo., and finished the season with a 8-4 overall record and a 6-3 MIAA record. Missouri Western made its second straight trip to the NCAA Division II National Playoffs in 2011. The Griffons hosted its first ever playoff game. They took on Northwest Missouri State University in St. Joseph, Mo., and finished the season with a 9-3 overall record and a 7-2 MIAA record. The 2003 MIAA regular season champions and Mineral Water Bowl championship team finished the season with a 9-3 overall record and beat Concordia-St. Paul 24-14 in the Mineral Water Bowl. Missouri Western played in its fourth straight post-season game in 2008, falling 37-16 in the Mineral Water Bowl against Augustana College (S.D.) on December 6, 2008. The Griffons finished the season 6-6 overall and 5-4 in MIAA action. In their first Mineral Water Bowl since 1975 the Griffons came up short in 2000, falling in a 43-41 triple overtime thriller against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent Winona State. The Griffons finished the season 8-4 overall and 8-1 in the MIAA. The Griffons qualified for the NCAA Playoffs for the third straight season and won their first ever playoff game by defeating #7 Minnesota-Duluth 57-55 in triple overtime in Spratt Stadium. The Griffons then defeated #6 Henderson State 45-21 on the road before falling in the quarterfinals 17-10 against #5 Minnesota State on December 1, 2012 in Mankato, Minn., finishing with a school best 12-2 overall record. They also won the MIAA regular season title outright for the first time in school history finishing with a 9-1 MIAA record. The Griffons beat #4 Northwest Missouri State 21-20 on November 10, 2012 to earn the title.
