Jay White enters his ninth season on the Griffon coaching staff and fifth as Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities. In 2014 he coached first team All-MIAA selection Scott Groner. Groner had an outstanding season averaging an MIAA best 42.6 yards per kick. He ranked 11th in the nation with that average. Groner punted 50 times for 2,132 with a long of 61 yards on September 21, 2013 at Nebraska-Kearney. He had nine kicks of 50 or more yards to go along with 13 kicks inside the 20. It was first time in his career that he has been named to the first team All-MIAA. He was an honorable mention selection in 2011. Groner was also named to the Daktronics Super Region Three Second Team and first team Don Hansen All-Region as well as honorable mention Don Hansen All-American. In 2013 he coached second team All-MIAA selection Taylor Anderson. Anderson had an outstanding record, making an MIAA single-season record 74 consecutive extra points. Anderson made 12 of 19 field goals which included a 53-yard field goal against Missouri Southern, a game in which he went 3-for-3. Anderson has made 80 straight extra points in his career, which is a Missouri Western record. His 74 PATs during the season is a school and MIAA single season record. He set the record for most points scored by a kicker in a season with 110. In 2011, White coached All-American kicker Greg Zuerlein and All-Region punter Scott Groner. Zuerlein was drafted in the sixth round by the St. Louis Rams. Zuerlein broke numerous school records including making a school record 58-yard field goal twice. He was also a perfect 9-for-9 from 50+ yards. Groner broke the school record for punt average in a season at 43.9 yards per kick. He had a long of 80 yards with 17 going inside the 20 and 13 going 50 or more yards. White finished his career as a Griffon in 2005, playing in 23 games. As a punter White averaged 41.0 yards per kick in his two-year career. In 2005, he averaged 41.6 yards per kick.
