Phoebus HS 2012 R-SOPHOMORE SEASON Played in 10 games for the Pirates… led the Pirates in receiving, catching 25 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns… averaged 12.4 yards per catch and 31.1 receiving yards per game… caught six passes for a career-high 99 yards and a score against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 29… also had four catches for 85 yards and a touchdown at Florida A&M on Sept. 15. 2011 R-FRESHMAN SEASON Played in nine games for the Pirates… caught one pass for nine yards against Delaware State on Nov. 12. 2010 FRESHMAN SEASON Played in one game for the Pirates, seeing action at Florida A&M. PHOEBUS HIGH SCHOOL Played football all four years for the Phantoms… had 25 tackles and two interceptions as a sophomore… caught 15 passes for 150 yards as a junior, while also adding an 85-yard kickoff return… was the team’s leading receiver as a senior, catching 22 passes for 317 yards and two touchdowns… was on three state championship teams, as a freshman, junior and senior… also played basketball as a freshman, sophomore and junior. PERSONAL Born Oct. 18, 1991… son of Gloria and Arthur Griffin… has one brother, Aaron (24)… nicknamed Dre or Drizzy… featured in the Daily Press… majoring in sports management… wants to become a head coach at the college of professional level or a general manager. Miles Grooms 8 | Defensive End 6-4, 245, Sophomore Richmond, Va. Hargrave Military Academy Henrico HS 2012 FRESHMAN SEASON Played in 10 games for the Pirates… had nine tackles on the season, including six solo stops… had two solo tackles each against Savannah State (Oct. 27) and at Morgan State (Nov. 17)… added two assisted tackles at Howard on Nov. 3… had three sacks on the season, including two against Savannah State… those three sacks were his lone tackles for loss on the season. HERNICO HIGH SCHOOL Played football as a junior and senior… was Honorable Mention All-District as a junior… recorded 42 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, and four forced fumbles as a senior, en route to earning First Team All-District honors…also played basketball all four years… averaged eight points and rebounds a game as a junior… averaged 12 points and eight rebounds as a senior.
