42 Zack Fleming enters his first year on the Carson- Newman coaching staff. Fleming was a three-year letter winner for Ken Sparks on the defensive line. In his three seasons he totaled 45 tackles, eight sacks and 12 tackles for loss. ZACK FLEMING ASSIST. LB 2nd Year Carson-Newman ‘13 In 2012 Fleming led the Eagles with eight tackles for loss and four sacks. He was a member of the Eagles leadership body - the player committee. Fleming is the son of Jeff and Cristi Fleming. He and his dog Carl live in Jefferson City with Zack’s wife Sarah. Carl is a chocolate lab, beagle mix and, an honorary member of the Carson-Newman coaching staff and the Eagles unofficial mascot. A gifted speedster, Carl helps players train by running the 40-yard dash and shuttle sprints with them. CARL FLEMING RETRIEVERS 2nd Year Doggy School ‘12 When he’s not grawing on apple cores, or better yet, apple cores covered in peanut butter, he enjoys receiving fervent head and or belly pets. Carl has battled digestive problems, but has overcome those issues to dine primarily on pork and rice. The “son” of Zack and Sarah Fleming, Carl likes playing the claw game and wrestling. While he enjoys sprints, he despises long-distance running. Carl is described as a hardcore sleeper. Not in the sense that he’s an underrated receivers coach, but in the sense that he really enjoys naptime.
