2014-15 Carson-Newman Men’s Basketball Media Guide 19 2 - Larry Curry Nickname: The Third Height: 6-3 Weight: 190 Year: Freshman Hometown: Winston-Salem, N.C. High School: East Forsyth Position: G High School: A 6-3, 190-pound guard for head coach Mike Muse at East Forsyth – led EFHS to its first 20-win season in 36 years. He helped the Eagles to a Piedmont Triad 4A conference championship – just the fifth title in school history. As a senior, Curry was the Eagles’ co-captain the program’s leading scorer (19.3 ppg) and rebounder (6.1 rpg). He also dished out a team best 3.7 assists per game. Curry is a three-time all-conference selection. He earned North Carolina All-District 7 honors his senior year and was an All- Forsyth County pick after his junior campaign. He was the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference co-Player of the Year at the end of his senior season. He scored at least 15 points on all but five occasions out of 26 games in his senior year. He had a pair of 30 point games, seven 20 point games and then scored 19 points five other times. Curry connected on 56 percent of his field goals and 42 percent of his threes. He scored 70 points in 24 hours in back-to-back road games at Northwest Guilford (36 points) and Glenn (34 points) all while chipping in 13 rebounds. 3 - Christian Harris Height: 6-0 Weight: 170 Year: Freshman Hometown: Gold Canyon, Ariz. High School: Mesa Position: G High School: The long-range sniper shot 42 percent from three in his senior season. He averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He appeared on the Mesa All-District second team his sophomore and junior seasons before earning first team All-District honors as a senior. As a senior, he was also a member of the Sports360AZ All-Academic Basketball Team. He also was named a US Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete and a member of Arizona’s Central Division One All-State Honorable Mention team. Personal: He is the son of Tom and Lisa Harris and plans to study business ad-ministration at Carson-Newman. Harris comes from a family of athletes. His uncle, John, played basketball and tennis at Nebraska Omaha and Nebraska Kearney. Another uncle, Kevin Cartwright, wrestled at Nebraska Kearney. Har-ris is also an accomplished academician. He is a 2014 recipient of the Prin-cipal’s Award and a member of the National Honors Society and Principal’s Honor Roll while carrying a 4.0 GPA through all four years of his high school career. He was Mesa’s Wendy’s High School Heisman winner and performed 220 service learning hours. He ranked in the top 10 percent of his class. 10 - Charles Clark Nickname: Bird Height: 6-2 Weight: 185 Year: Freshman Hometown: Murfreesboro, Tenn. High School: Siegel Position: G Major: Undecided High School: A 6-2 guard out of Siegel High School who was coached by Ben Dotson. While with the Stars, Clark scored 1,510 points in his high school career en route to a McDonald’s All-American nomination. His senior year, Clark averaged 17.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He was a three-time All-District 7-AAA and All-Region 4-AAA selection. He earned all-state honors his senior season and all-state tournament honors his junior year. He was a high school teammate of Ryan Jones. The duo helped the Stars to a final four appearance when they were juniors. Jones and Clark guided Siegel to the Elite Eight as seniors Personal: Clark is the son of Sarah Clark. He is undecided on a major at C-N. His nickname is Bird.
