GROUND RULES, CONT. 3. Netting: Any ball that bounces off the protective netting and lands in playing area, the ball is live. If a ball hits netting and drops into the dugout, the ball is dead. 4. Tarp: The player may not use the tarp as a step. 5. Railings: The railings along the first base and third base lines are considered in play. 6. Left and right field foul lines:If any batted ball hits any part of the foul pole, it is a home run If any batted ball clears the yellow break line, located on the wall padding, it will be considered a home run. 7. Outfield Wall: Any batted ball that clears the yellow line on wall pad or hits recessed railing located beyond outfield fencing is a home run. 8. Batter’s Eye: Any batted ball that clears the yellow break line will be considered a home run. FORT WAYNE TINCAPS Parkview Field - Fort Wayne, IN 1. Behind home plate: No break in the backstop net. 2. Dugouts: Netting in front of both dugouts is live. If a ball bounces off netting and lands in playing area, ball is live. If a ball hits netting and drops into the dugout, ball is dead. The top step of either dugout opening is in play. 3. Tarp: If a ball rolls into, under or behind the tarp, it is dead. Balls deflecting off the tarp are in play. Players may lean on the tarp to make a play, but may not use it as a step to make a play. 4. The railings along the first and third base lines are in play; however if a ball hits the railing down the left field and right field, respectively, it is deemed dead and a ground rule double. If a ball bounces over the railing and into the stands, it is dead. 5. Bullpens: All fair balls hit or thrown into the bullpen area are live except those that become lodged beneath the bullpen benches. Lodged balls are dead. 6. Outfield wall: Any batted ball that clears the yellow line on the fly is a home run. This includes any batted ball that hits the railing above the wall. If a ball becomes lodged between or under padding or LED boards, it is dead. GREAT LAKES LOONS Dow Diamond - Midland, MI 1. No break in backstop or dugout netting. 2. The camera pits located in the dugouts are dead. 3. The facing of the dugouts are dead. The top step of either opening is in play. 4. All fair balls in the bullpen are in play. 5. A player my not use the tarp as a step to make a play. Any diving on or over to make a play is permitted. 6. All padded railings along the first and third base lines are in play. 7. All concrete steps beyond the first and third base bullpens are dead. 8. Any batted ball that hits any part of the foul pole is a home run. 9. Any batted ball that clears the yellow line on wall pad or hits recessed railing located beyond outfield fencing is a home run. KANE COUNTY COUGARS Northwestern Medicine Field - Geneva, IL 1. Behind home plate: If ball lodges between the screen and the top of the padding, or lodges underneath the gate directly behind home plate, it is dead. 2. Dugouts/Pit Areas: A ball bouncing off the metal steps or railing at the end of the dugouts is live. A ball lodging under the metal steps at the ends of the dugout is dead. A ball bouncing off the face of the dugout roof is dead. Players may carry the ball into, but cannot throw from the dugout or pits. The pit areas to the outfield sides of the dugouts are dead.
