2014-15 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS 72 @MEACSPORTS MEACSPORTS Men’s Golf Georgia Regents University of Augusta captured its first-ever MEAC Golf Championship. The Jaguars, who became an associate member of the MEAC in September, won the rain-shortened championship by 36 strokes. Robin Petersson was named the Outstanding Performer and Jaguars head coach Jack O’Keefe earned Outstanding Coach honors. Georgia Regents received the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Regionals and finished ninth. Outdoor Track and Field The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers tallied 111 points to win its first MEAC Outdoor title since 2000 and 10th overall. Florida A&M head coach Darlene Moore was named Outstanding Coach. Norfolk State’s Kiara Howell and Hampton’s Ce’aira Brown were selected the Outstanding Field and Runner Performers. On the men’s side, Bethune-Cookman edged out North Carolina A&T State to win its second consecutive Outdoor title with 139 points. Wildcats coach Donald Cooper was named Outstanding Coach. B-CU’s Kenneth Fisher and Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khalil Rmidi Knini garnered Outstanding Field and Runner accolades. Softball Delaware State and Savannah State captured the northern and southern divisional crowns, respectively. The Lady Hornets posted a 14-4 MEAC mark in the north, while the Lady Tigers finished at 13-1 in the south. Savannah State’s Torrian Wright was named Player of the Year. Bethune-Cookman’s Sabrina Anguiano was selected Pitcher of the Year and Vanessa Washington of Delaware State garnered Rookie of the Year accolades. Savannah State’s Jose Gonzalez earned Coach of the Year honors. Florida A&M captured its second straight tournament title and 11th overall with a 2-0 victory over Bethune-Cookman. Kenya Pereira was named the Outstanding Performer and head coach Veronica Wiggins earned Outstanding Coach honors. FAMU earned the conference automatic berth to the NCAA Division regions. The Lady Rattlers fell to Florida, 6-0, and Florida Atlantic, 7-2, in postseason play. Baseball Norfolk State posted a 19-5 conference mark, while Florida A&M registered a 15-9 MEAC record to clinch the 2015 northern and southern divisional titles. Savannah State’s Charles Sikes was named Player of the Year. Adan Ordonez of North Carolina A&T State earned Rookie of the Year, while Norfolk State’s Matt Outman was selected Pitcher of the Year. Claudell Clark, of Norfolk State, was named Coach of the Year. Florida A&M defeated Bethune- Cookman, 8-2, to earn the 2015 MEAC Baseball Championship. Brandon Fleming was selected as the Outstanding Performer, while Rattlers’ head coach Jamey Shouppe was selected as the Outstanding Coach. FAMU earned the conference’s automatic berth to the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball regional in Gainesville, Fla. The Rattlers fell to host Florida, 19-0 and ended the season with an 8-1 loss to Florida Atlantic. Florida A&M concluded the season with a 23-25 record.
