2.3 Existing and Planned Future Transit

TriMet is the primary transit service provider in Washington County, offering local and regional bus,
MAX light rail, and Westside Express Service (WES) commuter rail. The City of Wilsonville provides
South Metro Area Regional Transit (SMART) bus service that links to the TriMet system. Non-profit
organizations (e.g. Ride Connection) and other regional transit service providers (e.g. Yamhill County
Transit Area) also provide public transportation services, including last mile shuttles and intercity
service. The following sections summarize the public transit services available within Washington
County, which are also illustrated in Figure 2-5. Section 2.3.4 summarizes applicable future transit
plans.
