Eleanor Tinsley Park
A portion of Houston, Texas' Buffalo Bayou Park is called Eleanor Tinsley Park. Eleanor Tinsley, a 16-year Houston City Council At-Large member, was honored with its designation on April 20, 1998. The park is home to the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark, the Shady Grove Victim Memorial, the Houston Police Officers' Memorial, the Glenwood Cemetery, the San Felipe Playground, jogging routes, and a sand volleyball court made by Henry Moore.
The park's street address is ill-defined due to its ambiguous shape and the fact that it lies on the border of three ZIP codes (77002, 77007, and 77019). The address may be given as 1800-3600 Allen Parkway/Memorial Drive, 77019, according to the City of Houston. The City may alternatively indicate the address as 500 Allen Parkway, 77002. The San Felipe playground is located at 1717 Allen Pkwy, 77019, according to the city.
The Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark is located at 103 Sabine Street, 77007, according to the city. Taft Street forms the park's western boundary. Sabine Street forms its eastern boundary. Memorial Drive serves as the northern boundary. Parades, road races, and racewalking frequently cause Allen Parkway, which forms its southern border, to be closed. The park serves as the location for several yearly events, including the Houston Art Car Parade, Freedom Over Texas, and the Free Press Summer Fest music festival. The Bob Marley Festival and "The Westheimer Street Festival in Exile" were formerly held in the park.

Discovery Green
A public urban park measuring 11.78 acres (47,700 m2), Discovery Green is located in Downtown Houston, Texas. It is bordered to the west by La Branch Street, the north by McKinney Street, the east by Avenida de las Americas, and the south by Lamar Street. The George R. Brown Convention Center and the Avenida Houston entertainment zone are close to the park. A playground, two dog runs, a bandstand, public performance spaces, a lake, and other leisure lawns are all part of Discovery Green.
With the intention of creating a new public green space in Downtown, a public-private collaboration was established in the early 2000s between the City of Houston and a number of regional charitable groups, including the Kinder Foundation. On the east side of Downtown, a number of surface parking lots were purchased with the help of this cooperation. [2] In order to build the park, the Discovery Green Conservancy and the City funded a combined $125 million once the site purchases were finished in 2004. Beginning in 2005, the park's design was overseen by the landscape architectural company Hargreaves Associates. On April 13, 2008, Discovery Green was opened to the public. In its first two months of operation, the park saw an estimated 250,000 visitors.

As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, an increase in racial injustices, and attacks on Black life, the year 2020 was characterized by a mixture of anarchy, upheaval, and loss. Internally, we have been affected in many different ways: at the beginning of the year 2020, we launched a $5 Million campaign called "Heal the Armory," which was paused; on July 28, we were victims of hate with the defacing of our building; and we lost a significant portion of our earned income due to the closure of the facility. In spite of the challenges we faced during the year, we were successful in expanding both our programming and our outreach, which resulted in a larger audience and put us on track to move forward.

Beer Can House
John Milkovisch, a retired upholsterer for the Southern Pacific Railroad, began his project in 1968, which is now known as the Beer Can House. At the time, he was in the process of inlaying thousands of marbles, rocks, and metal pieces into concrete and redwood to form one-of-a-kind landscaping features. Today, the Beer Can House is one of the most unique homes in the world. As soon as the entire front and back yards were completely covered because he "grew weary of mowing the grass," he turned his attention to the house itself and began installing metal siding — more specifically, aluminum siding made from beer cans.
The house was hidden from view for the following 18 years by a cover made of beer cans that had been flattened out. This was done for both functional and aesthetic reasons. Not only did the house sound like it was singing in the wind thanks to the garlands made of cut beer cans that were hung from the corners of the roof, but the family also saved money on their monthly energy costs. According to estimates provided by Ripley's Believe It or Not!, this monument to recycling features more than 50,000 cans.
