Functional medicine, also known as alternative medicine or integrated medicine, includes an investigative strategy in which experts strive to understand how genetic diversity interacts with exposures to triggers for disease in addition to identifying the triggers themselves.
Functional medicine places a high priority on the details of standard medical care; doctors are encouraged to take thorough patient histories and use laboratory and blood tests to examine liver function, hormone levels, and markers like C-reactive protein that can indicate inflammation, among other things. These are tracked over the course of the patient's treatment to make sure the tools, science, and general discipline are providing the patient with what they require.
In order to address the root causes of disease, we offer medication and therapies at the Holistic Wellness Center, our institution for functional medicine. We accomplish this via an orderly 6-step path to wellness that combines holistic and integrative medicine. Our doctors collaborate with you one-on-one to develop a special medication and treatment strategy that takes into account your individual requirements.

There are unspecialized "master cells" in the body that can differentiate into any other sort of cell. These cells gradually become slightly more specialized as we age, but they continue to be able to regenerate, repair and replace various body parts. These cells, which play a major role in regeneration in adults, are mostly found in our bone marrow and fat cells. Then, when the body is injured or inflamed, they move through our blood to the area of need or injury and aid in the healing process by lowering the level of inflammation, stopping further tissue death, generating new blood vessels, reprogramming dysfunctional and/or older cells, and luring other similar cells to the area to help.
The Holistic Wellness Center exclusively collaborates with human tissue manufacturing facilities that are authorized and in compliance with AATB, CGMP, and FDA regulations. These labs also adhere to GTP (Good Tissue Practices) and WHO (World Health Organization) standards and procedures, are AATB (American Association of Tissue Banking) approved and are cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) certified.
These labs exclusively accept bioethically donated newborn tissue from healthy consenting moms in the US who have undergone thorough blood screens, full-term, live C-section deliveries, and who have passed a medical background check. The health and safety of the mother and child come first when these labs cooperate with tissue procurement organizations in the US that adhere to the AATB rules while collecting samples.
All of our autoimmune members undergo functional herbal/nutritional protocols, nutrigenomic testing (genetic testing), testing for infectious disease markers, sex hormone testing, and food sensitivity panels. This aids in identifying the underlying causes and frequent triggers of autoimmune diseases. Additionally, we provide our members with knowledge so they can make nutritional and lifestyle adjustments to manage their disease permanently.
The Holistic Wellness Center of the Carolinas uses functional medicine, hence we use different lab ranges than conventional medicine. Tighter lab ranges are used in functional medicine to pinpoint diseases. Due to the fact that millions of Americans are getting lab work done but are still experiencing symptoms and fall within the broad ranges used in conventional treatment, this is crucial.
Inflammatory bowel illness affects 1.4 million Americans (IBD). IBD is frequently related to Crohn's disease.
GI (gastrointestinal, or digestive) tract lining inflammation, abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, exhaustion, weight loss, and malnutrition are the hallmark symptoms of the aggressive and life-altering disease of Crohn's. People with Crohn's disease who are untreated or inadequately managed are more likely to have significant consequences due to nutritional malabsorption.
Because one of our practitioners suffers from Crohn's disease, we at the Holistic Wellness Center are especially committed to treating others with this condition.
