The app also has a comprehensive set of photography modes, including exposure bracketing (3 or 5 photos), burst mode, interval shooting, manual control, and raw shooting, so that most photographers will be well-equipped.

Keep in mind that features such as geofencing and accessing your photos and videos within the DJI Fly app are legitimately useful while you’re flying a drone. If you turn them off, you won’t get warnings regarding federally regulated airspace (though the FAA makes the B4UFLY app, which you can check manually instead), you can’t access the location of your drone if you lose it, and you won’t be able to review your photos and footage until you load your memory card onto a computer. Relying on the drone’s vision system instead of satellites also makes it more difficult for the drone to position itself in visually challenging environments such as snow, rain, and low light. Pilots have to make a personal call about balancing security and privacy with function.

The DJI Mavic 3 takes many of the best features of the Air 2S and, for twice the price, tacks on a superior 4/3 image sensor and a Hasselblad-branded camera (DJI bought a majority stake in the camera manufacturer in 2017). This model captures 20-megapixel photographs and 5.1K videos that look more colorful than those of the competition. It also has a 46-minute battery life—the longest of any drone we’ve tested. A 4K camera paired with DJI’s autonomous features make this lightweight drone—a model that doesn’t require government registration—an especially good value.

DJI pushed bad software to the app store causing the drone to crash, they installed geofencing that prevented me from taking off in my own driveway, the drone sometimes would loose connection on takeoff and drift into trees. Don’t give your money to the CCP. Skydio 2+ is made in the USA and has the best obstacle avoidance system. While the DJI mavic 3 does have it there are a few reviews on youtube showing that it’s not quite up to par yet and they are only hopeful that firmware updates will fix it.
