The western half of Shell Island is part of the St. Andrews State Park. It’s as natural as Florida gets. Which means that you won’t be stopping at a concession stand or stopping at a picnic table. But you will get a chance to see some of the most beautiful, untouched wild land left on the East Coast. Get a chance to see a variety of endangered species.
Shell Island Boats provide the fastest and most safest way to reach Shell Island. The Boat also serves as your connection to snorkel gear rentals or Shell Island Snorkel Tours.

Shell Island is only one part of this tour. We'll be heading out towards the island. You will often see dolphin schools in the area. Another option is to make Shell Island a stop on your charter fishing trip.
Once you get there it is all worth it, as it is the most beautiful water I've ever seen. It is like you are swimming in a pool. It is so crystal clear. We didn't know what to expect so we went planning to spend a few hours on the island. Come expecting to spend all day!
This island is not as secluded as you see on the pictures and we couldn't find any of the cool shells either. (I understand that it's nature and can't be controlled).
Agree with above, go around 11 a.m., to get the best of daytime sun, because April has some fairly cool days. over a year ago. I'd plan for late morning/early afternoon. There's no shade so if it is really warm you don't want to be there at the absolute hottest part of the day.
The waters around Shell Island are home to a large group of bottlenose dolphins. You can encounter these amazing marine mammals at home in their natural habitat on one of our Panama City Beach Dolphin Tours.
