FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being one of their largest expenditures people always have a many questions prior to makingany decisions , below are a number of the most common ones…

Unless you’re a qualified contractor, the majority of roofing tasks shouldn’t be performed yourself. Additionally bear in mind that almost all manufacturers of products used in the roof repair will not warranty those items unless a certified professional carries out the job. Something else to keep in mind is that working on a roof is going to be very risky, so is it really worth endangering your health for you to save money?

It would be really good if we were able to give you a straight forward answer to that question! However there really is no one answer fits all for each question like that. There are several different products available and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. To know which is the best roof for your home, you really should have a contractor come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they have seen, the type of roof you have, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It really depends upon the kind of roof you currently have and exactly what inspections are needed. Also, bear in mind that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on a number of days then this will certainly add more time to the job. A small home could take about a week or so, whereas more substantial industrial jobs might be anything from several weeks to a number of months. Just ensure that your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you really should be fine.

Because your roof is continually subjected to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to degrade over time. The speed at which it degrades will be dependent on a variety of variables. These include; the quality of the original materials that were used and the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing contractors will quote around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above variables. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of getting rid of any protective minerals that have been included to provide cover from the elements. Furthermore, you should avoid chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they could also lower the life of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning professional, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. This will clear away the unpleasant algae and discoloration without destroying the tile or shingles.

Originally called Garrison’s Landing, Bladensburg was renamed in honor of Thomas Bladen, governor of Maryland, 1742–1747. Bladensburg was established in 1742 as a regional commercial center by an act of the Maryland General Assembly. The act also authorized the town commissioners to purchase 60 acres (240,000 m2) of land to be laid out in 1-acre (4,000 m2) lots. The act required that a house covering at least 400 square feet (37 m2) of ground with a brick or stone chimney be constructed within 18 months of the sale of the lot. As of 6 June 1746, only 18 of the lots had been improved according to the stipulations of the act. Christopher Lowndes’ house, Bostwick, and those built by David Ross and William Hilleary (the William Hilleary House) were among them.[8]
