FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As one of their most significant investments people always have a many questions before makingany decisions , listed here are a few of the more commonplace ones…

Unless you’re a certified contractor, the majority of roofing jobs should never be performed yourself. Also keep in mind that most manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those products unless a licensed roofing contractor carries out the job. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof may be very risky, so is it really worth endangering your health for you to save money?

It would be really good if we were able to give you a simple answer to this question! But there actually is no single answer that fits all for every question like that. There are plenty of unique products available and each and every one has its own merits and faults. To know which is the ideal roof for you, you should have an expert come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they find, the type of roof you have, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It actually depends on the type of roof and what evaluations are required. Also, bear in mind that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on a number of days then this will definitely add time to the job. A smaller home might take around a week or so, while more substantial industrial jobs might be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just make certain your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Since your roof is always exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to break down over time. The speed at which it deteriorates will be dependent on a number of variables. Those include; the grade of the original materials that were used along with the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is taken care of and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above factors. Our suggestion is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of taking off any protective minerals that have been included to offer protection from the weather. Also, you really should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners since they could also cut down the life of your roof. When you communicate with your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will clear away the undesirable algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.

Some roof leaks are difficult to locate. In some cases the water appears at a ceiling area remote from the leak. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier in between the drywall and the attic insulation, press the insulation aside and search for circulation spots on the plastic. Often water goes to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling lighting fixture.

Wetness that gets away into the cold attic from the spaces below frequently condenses on cold nails. Often you can identify this if you go up into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white because they’re frosted. When the attic warms up a bit during the day, the frost melts and drips, then the nails frost up in the evening again and so on.
