FAQs
Being one of their most significant expenditures people always have a many questions before coming to a conclusion , below are a number of the more common ones…
Unless you are a properly trained roofing professional, most roofing work should never be performed yourself. Additionally remember that almost all manufacturers of products used in the roof repair will not warranty those items unless a certified professional carries out the task. The other thing to remember is that working on a roof is going to be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health for you to save money?
It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a simple response to this question! However, there really is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are several different products readily available and each one has its own advantages and faults. To figure out which is the best roof for you, you really should have a professional come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations according to what they have seen, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It actually is dependent on the type of roof you have and what surveys are needed. Also, remember that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on certain days then this will certainly add more time to the job. A small home could take about a week or so, whereas larger industrial projects could be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just make certain your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Since your roof is continually exposed to the weather, this means your roof is going to diminish over time. The rate at which it breaks down will be dependent on a number of factors. Those include; the grade of the initial components that were used and the workmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the type of roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed because of the above factors. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You shouldn’t ever pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of eliminating any covering materials that have been included to provide cover from the elements. Additionally, you should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they may also lower the lifespan of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will eliminate the unattractive algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Matthews, NC
Matthews is a town in southeastern Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It is a suburb of Charlotte. The population was 27,198 according to the 2010 Census.
In the early 19th century, the early settlement that would become Matthews was unofficially named Stumptown for the copious amount of tree stumps left from making way for cotton farms. The community’s name later changed to Fullwood, named after appointed area postmaster John Miles Fullwood. The establishment of a sawmill and the cotton and timber industry helped Fullwood change into a town. Prior to the first train arriving on December 15, 1874, Fullwood acted as a stagecoach stop between Charlotte and Monroe. The town was incorporated into a municipal corporation in 1879 and was renamed to Matthews for Edward Watson Matthews, a prominent resident, and director of the Central Carolina Railroad, which would later become known as the Seaboard Air Line Railroad.[4][5]
The Seaboard Air Line Fell Into Seaboard On July 1, 1967. Seaboard Then Merged With Chessie System To Create CSX (Chessie Seaboard X)

The terrific climate includes a cost, however. It can be rough on roofs. Our company prides itself on keeping your business roofing and property roof in prime condition. If you need a new roofing, we will install it. If you require repair work, we will do a quality task. We continuously make every effort to improve our capability as residential and commercial roofing professionals.

We use trust, stability, quality, and assurance. Lots of companies can offer you a roofing, but few can give you the secure sensation that we do. Dealing with a quality roofing company minimizes your concern and permits you to focus on your work and your family.
Property owner upkeep includes cleaning up the leaves and debris from the roofing’s valleys and seamless gutters. Debris in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roof. Clogged up gutter can trigger water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, no matter the roofing product.
The best method to maintain your roofing system is to stay off it. Also, seasonal changes in the weather condition are generally the most damaging forces. A dripping roof can harm ceilings, walls and furnishings. To protect structures and their contents from water damage, roofing professionals repair and install roofing systems made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.
There are 2 types of roofing systems: flat and pitched (sloped). Many industrial, commercial and apartment or condo structures have flat or slightly sloping roofings. A lot of houses have pitched roofing systems. Some roofing professionals deal with both types; others specialize. Most flat roofings are covered with a number of layers of products. Roofing contractors initially put a layer of insulation on the roofing system deck.
Next, they set up partially overlapping layers of roofing felt, a fabric filled in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofing professionals use a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface watertight. Roofing professionals duplicate these actions to develop the preferred number of layers, called plies. To use shingles, roofing contractors first lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roof felt lengthwise over the whole roofing system. Then, beginning from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing system. Workers step and cut the felt and shingles to fit intersecting roof surface areas and to fit around vent pipelines and chimneys.
Lastly, roofing contractors cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to prevent water leak. Roofing professionals who use tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable procedure. Some roofing professionals likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough spots, or eliminate them with a rubbing brick, before using a coat of liquid waterproofing substance.
When damp-proofing, they normally spray a bitumen-based coating on interior or exterior surface areas. Asphalt is the most frequently utilized roof material. Asphalt items include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and modified bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are generally the most common and cost-effective option for property roofing. They are available in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to supply extra thickness. Interlocking shingles are used to supply higher wind resistance. And big specific shingles usually can be found in rectangle-shaped and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing products are normally utilized in residential applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They come in four various types of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced items are utilized mostly as flashing to seal the roofing system at intersections and protrusions, and for offering additional deck protection at the roof’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment in between the roof deck and the roofing material. Specialty-eaves flashings are generally utilized in environments where ice dams and water backups are typical.
BUR is utilized on flat and low-sloped roofs and consists of several layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Parts of a BUR system consist of the roofing deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and appearing product. A customized bitumen-membrane assembly consists of continuous plies of saturated felts, coated felts, materials or mats between which alternate layers of bitumen are used, either appeared or unsurfaced.
