FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being one of their most significant investments people usually have a many questions before coming to a conclusion , below are a number of the more common ones…

Unless you are a trained contractor, the majority of roofing work really should not be undertaken yourself. Additionally always remember that almost all manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a licensed professional carries out the work. Something else to always remember is that working on a roof is going to be very risky, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health in order to save money?

It would be great if we were able to give you a simple response to that question! However, there actually is no one answer that fits all for each question like that. There are a lot of different products readily available and each and every one will have its own merits and faults. To determine which is the right roof for you, you really should have a professional come and examine your roof and they can make recommendations according to what they find, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely depends on the type of roof you currently have and exactly what surveys are needed. Also, remember that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on a number of days then this will add more time to the task. A small home may take about a week or so, while larger commercial projects might be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just see to it your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Considering that your roof is continuously subjected to the outside elements, this means your roof is will deteriorate over time. The pace at which it breaks down will be dependent on a variety of variables. These include; the quality of the original materials used and the workmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is taken care of and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above factors. Our suggestion is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You shouldn’t ever pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of taking off any covering materials that have been added to give cover from the weather. Also, you should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they may also reduce the life of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning expert, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. That will remove the ugly algae and staining without damaging the tile or shingles.
