FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being one of their largest investments people typically have a ton of questions before makingany decisions , below are a number of the most commonplace ones…

Unless you are a qualified roofing professional, most roofing tasks shouldn’t be performed yourself. Additionally keep in mind that the majority of manufacturers of products utilized in the roof repair won’t warranty those products unless a certified professional carries out the task. The other thing to keep in mind is that working on a roof may be very risky, so is it really worth risking your health in order to save money?

It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a simple answer to that question! However, there actually is no single answer that fits all for every question like that. There are several different products readily available and each and every one will have its own benefits and disadvantages. To know which is the right roof for you, you ought to have a contractor come and take a look at your roof and they can make recommendations according to what they discover, the type of roof you have, the environment you live in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely depends on the kind of roof you have and what surveys are required. Also, remember that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on particular days then this is going to add more time to the job. A small home might take around a week or so, while much larger commercial jobs can be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just make sure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Considering that your roof is consistently exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to degrade over time. The rate at which it breaks down will depend on a variety of factors. Those include; the grade of the initial components that were used along with the workmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is taken care of and the type of roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed due to the above issues. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of taking off any covering minerals that have been added to give cover from the weather. On top of that, you should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they may also decrease the life-span of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will remove the undesirable algae and yellowing without ruining the tile or shingles.
