FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their most significant financial investments people always have a bunch of questions prior to makingany decisions , below are some of the more commonplace ones…
Unless you’re a trained contractor, most roofing work shouldn’t be performed yourself. Also bear in mind that the majority of manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those products unless a certified roofing contractor performs the job. Something else to keep in mind is that working on a roof may be very risky, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health in order to save money?
It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a straight forward response to this question! However there really is no single answer fits all for every question like that. There are many unique products available and each has its own advantages and faults. To determine which is the best roof for you, you really should have a contractor come and take a look at your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they find, your roof design, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends on the kind of roof and what inspections are needed. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on certain days then this will certainly add more time to the job. A small home might take about a week or so, while more substantial industrial jobs can be anything from several weeks to a number of months. Just make sure your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Because your roof is always exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to degrade with time. The rate at which it breaks down will depend on a variety of variables. These include; the quality of the original components used along with the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the style of the roof. Most roofing professionals will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above variables. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of removing any covering materials that have been added to provide cover from the weather. Additionally, you really should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they could also diminish the life of your roof. When you talk to your roof cleaning professional, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will remove the aesthetically displeasing algae and yellowing without ruining the tile or shingles.

We provide trust, stability, quality, and assurance. Lots of business can offer you a roof, but few can offer you the safe and secure sensation that we do. Working with a quality roofing company lowers your concern and permits you to focus on your work and your household.
Property owner maintenance includes cleaning up the leaves and debris from the roofing’s valleys and seamless gutters. Debris in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roofing system. Blocked rain seamless gutters can trigger water to stream back under the shingles on the eaves and trigger damage, regardless of the roof material.
The very best way to preserve your roofing is to stay off it. Also, seasonal modifications in the weather condition are generally the most devastating forces. A dripping roofing can damage ceilings, walls and furnishings. To safeguard buildings and their contents from water damage, roofing professionals repair and install roofing systems made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.
There are two types of roofings: flat and pitched (sloped). The majority of industrial, commercial and apartment have flat or slightly sloping roofs. Most homes have pitched roofing systems. Some roofing professionals deal with both types; others specialize. A lot of flat roofs are covered with a number of layers of products. Roofing contractors first put a layer of insulation on the roofing deck.
Next, they set up partially overlapping layers of roofing felt, a material saturated in bitumen, over the surface. Roofers use a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface watertight. Roofers repeat these steps to construct up the preferred number of layers, called plies. To apply shingles, roofers first lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roofing felt lengthwise over the whole roof. Then, starting from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing system. Workers measure and cut the felt and shingles to fit intersecting roofing system surfaces and to fit around vent pipes and chimneys.
Finally, roofers cover exposed nailheads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leak. Roofing contractors who utilize tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable process. Some roofing professionals likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough spots, or eliminate them with a rubbing brick, before applying a coat of liquid waterproofing substance.
When damp-proofing, they usually spray a bitumen-based covering on interior or outside surface areas. Asphalt is the most frequently utilized roof product. Asphalt products include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and customized bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are usually the most common and affordable choice for domestic roof. They can be found in a range of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles consist of more than one layer of tabs to supply extra density. Interlocking shingles are used to provide greater wind resistance. And large individual shingles normally are available in rectangular and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing products are generally utilized in residential applications, mainly for underlayments and flashings. They are available in four various types of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced products are used mostly as flashing to seal the roofing at crossways and protrusions, and for offering additional deck security at the roofing’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment in between the roof deck and the roofing product. Specialty-eaves flashings are generally used in climates where ice dams and water backups prevail.
BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofs and includes numerous layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Components of a BUR system include the roofing deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and appearing material. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly includes continuous plies of saturated felts, layered felts, fabrics or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are used, either surfaced or unsurfaced.
