FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their biggest investments people typically have a plenty of questions before coming to a conclusion , below are some of the most common ones…
Unless you are a qualified contractor, the majority of roofing work should not be performed yourself. Also bear in mind that a lot of manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a licensed roofing contractor carries out the task. Something else to keep in mind is that working on a roof is going to be very hazardous, so is it really worth risking your health so you can save money?
It would be great if we were able to give you a simple answer to that question! But there actually is no single answer fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of unique products readily available and each one has its own merits and faults. To know which is the best roof for your home, you really should have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they find, the type of roof you have, the environment you live in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely depends on the kind of roof you currently have and exactly what inspections are mandated. Also, remember that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we cannot work on a number of days then this will definitely add more time to the task. A small home may take about a week or so, whereas more substantial commercial projects may be anything from several weeks to a number of months. Just see to it your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Considering that your roof is consistently subjected to the weather, it means your roof is going to degrade over time. The pace at which it deteriorates will be dependent on a range of variables. Those include; the grade of the original components used as well as the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is taken care of and the type of roof. Most roofing professionals will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but that can never be promised due to the above variables. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should not ever pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of eliminating any protective materials that have been included to provide shielding from the weather. In addition, you should avoid chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they may also lower the life-span of your roof. When you talk to your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will clear away the unsightly algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.
