FAQs
As one of their biggest financial investments people usually have a many questions prior to coming to a conclusion , listed here are some of the more common ones…
Unless you’re a certified roofing professional, the majority of roofing work shouldn’t be undertaken yourself. In addition bear in mind that a large number of manufacturers of products used in the roof repair won’t warranty those items unless a certified roofing contractor performs the job. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof could be very dangerous, so is it really worth risking your health for you to save money?
It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a simple response to this question! But there actually is no one answer fits all for each question like that. There are many different products available and each and every one has its own merits and disadvantages. To know which is the ideal roof for you, you ought to have a professional come and take a look at your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they have seen, your roof design, the environment you live in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely depends upon the type of roof and what surveys are required. Also, remember that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on a number of days then this is going to add time to the job. A small home could take about a week or so, whereas much larger industrial jobs may be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just ensure that your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Because your roof is continually subjected to the outside elements, it means your roof is will degrade over time. The rate at which it deteriorates will depend on a number of variables. These include; the quality of the original components that were used as well as the workmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be promised as a result of the above variables. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of removing any protective minerals that have been included to offer cover from the elements. Additionally, you really should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they can easily also cut down the lifespan of your roof. When you communicate with your roof cleaning professional, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. This will remove the undesirable algae and staining without damaging the tile or shingles.

More About Burke, VA
Burke is an unincorporated section of Fairfax County, Virginia, United States traditionally defined as the area served by the Burke post office (Zip Code 22015). Burke includes two census-designated places: The Burke CDP, population 41,055 in 2010[3] and the Burke Centre CDP, population 17,326.
Burke is named after Silas Burke (1796–1854), a 19th-century farmer, merchant, and local politician who built a house on a hill overlooking the valley of Pohick Creek in approximately 1824. The house still stands.[4] When the Orange and Alexandria Railroad was constructed in the late 1840s, the railroad station at the base of that hill was named “Burke’s Station” after Burke, who owned the land in the area and donated a right-of-way to the railroad company. The community that grew up around the railroad station acquired a post office branch in 1852. The railroad tracks located on the same historical line are owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway and form part of the Manassas line of the Virginia Railway Express commuter rail system, which has two stations (Rolling Road and Burke Centre) in the Burke area. The original Burke Station building can still be seen in the community, turned 90 degrees from its historical footprint.[5]

If you notice any of these indications, your next step is to find the leak and call in a professional to repair the hole in your roof.
A key piece of recommendations when it comes to preserving a shingle roofing system is to wash it. At some time, your roof will begin to look dirty, with long, dark streaks flowing from peak to eave. This is algae growing on your home. Algae won’t cause any immediate damage, but if you leave it long enough it can gradually rot your shingles.
The bleach will kill the algae fairly rapidly, but you’ll also desire to install copper strips just beneath your roofing’s peak. When it rains, the copper particles will stream down your roofing system, killing any algae fixing for a resurgence. No roofing system upkeep checklist would be complete without this pointer. Though it’s a dirty task, cleaning up out your gutters is an important part of maintaining your roof.

Many professionals advise cleaning them out two times a year, once in late spring and once again in early fall, as part of a regular fall home maintenance checklist. Tree branches can be a problem for a couple of factors, the most obvious being the danger of them falling on your roofing throughout serious weather condition.
This will help minimize storm damage, while also avoiding leaves from piling on top of your shingles, soaking up moisture and ultimately rotting your roofing system. While going through your roofing maintenance list, make sure you take a look at your chimney for cracks or missing mortar. Structural damage of any size can cause bricks to begin falling out, which can damage your roofing system, not to mention cause your chimney to collapse.
A sloping or leaning chimney can be brought on by concerns with your home’s structure also. If you notice your chimney has moved, call a specialist to have it repaired right now and inspect the rest of your house for indications of foundation problems. Constantly have a spotter when you’re working on a ladder.
Much better still, have an expert roofing contractor look after the repair work. If you or an inspector determines your roofing system should be changed, begin looking for an excellent contractor. Googling is a good place to begin, as Rick Damato of Roofer notes. “All of our reputations are online,” says Damato.
