About Us
Our Mission
Radio Archive builds infrastructure for continuous over-the-air broadcast radio capture, indexing, and retrieval. Our technology captures the full AM/FM spectrum using software-defined radios, processes audio with GPU-accelerated transcription, and makes years of broadcast content searchable and accessible. We have been developing and operating this system since 2015.
Development Timeline
- 2015 Began research into full-spectrum radio collector design.
- 2019 Software engineering commences.
- 2020 Deployed first FM prototype collectors in Los Angeles and Orange County.
- 2021 AM radio collectors completed and deployed.
- 2022 Doubled recording channel density; improved collector uptime to 99.9087%.
- 2023 Introduced GPU-based real-time speech-to-text transcription with advanced search capabilities.
- 2024 Refined collector hardware for improved durability, scalability, and reduced size.
- 2025 · Q4 Finished development of our v3 real-time DSP core that doubles throughput per CPU cycle, cutting hardware cost per collector by 50% while improving audio fidelity.
- 2026 · Q1 Completed rollout of the new v3 collector to Birmingham, AL. and New York City, NY. and expanded our collection network to now include all 210 DMA regions in the United States.
