Caladesi Island, located off Clearwater Beach's northern end (accessed via ferry), deserves to be mentioned as it is very similar to beaches found in the Caribbean. It features turquoise waters with sugar-soft, white sands making it one among the most beautiful beaches in Florida.
Panama City Beach lies just east of Destin on Hwy 98. It is the end of South Walton's beaches. These beaches are considered the cleanest and most beautiful in the nation. The St. Andrew Bay filters out much of the sediment and there is almost no river runoff.
Destin. Destin is known as the Florida Beach with the Clearest Water. This is why this beach is so special. It's due to the Choctawhatchee Bay that is just beyond the beach. This acts as a filter, taking the darker sediment in and leaving clear waters atop Destin’s fine quartz.
Mid-morning is the best time of day to spot dolphins.
