stock engine is between 17" Hg - 22" Hg at idle with the engine at operating temperature. If the

cation of weak valve springs. Steady 8"-14" at idle points to incorrect valve timing and steady
14"-16" at idle means incorrect ignition timing. Low vacuum in a recently rebuilt engine can
point to the installation of a camshaft with too much valve overlap/duration. If the low vacuum
condition is determined to be a result of the short duration camshaft, an electric vacuum pump is
the cure. These units are simple to install and will regulate the vacuum level itself.
