An earthquake hit the East Coast today. I felt it here at UGO HQ but, and I swear I’m not making this up, my sinuses have been so screwed up lately I thought it was just a reaction from being chronically stuffed up.
I did what any responsible citizen should do in a potentially life threatening situation. I went on Twitter to make dopey comments.
“If we’re gonna have Earthquakes, can we at least have LA weather, too?” was the best thing I could come up with. Others fared much better.
@TheJuanReyes: Prayers go out to all of those people playing jenga.
@JoelJohnson: New York earthquakes are better because of our thinner crust.
@sifutweety: I definitely found the east coast earthquake more raw and urban than the west coast variety.
@davidehrlich: New York City just became a giant D-Box theater. my seat rumbled and swayed like i was watching the climactic scene of THE HELP.
@RussFrushtick: Figures there's an earthquake right when I get on the front page of reddit. Good while it lasted!
@500words: Mayor Bloomberg quickly looking up the Spanish translation of the word #Earthquake.
@StevieNYC: Satellite footage of the #earthquake in NYC! http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqe83jWFkW1qz7b4yo1_500.gif
@80Miles: These hilarious quake tweets ought to be called "laughter shocks!"
@RennaW: DARN IT!!!! I was this close to finishing my Etch-a-Sketch masterpiece. #earthquake
@NatHistoryWhale: It feels stranger than you'd think to be attached to a ceiling during an earthquake.
@JohnDevore: The tremor triggered my disaster action plan: 1.) Push 2.) Run while crying 3.) Eat all the carbs I can find/steal
The winner of all, of course, was this pic that got Tweeted and ReTweeted by almost everyone: a snapshot of the quake’s devastation.
