Our Favorite Mac Moments
He's gotten fat, but the guy's still the Mac. Here we salute his legacy of foolishness on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

We love every member of the Gang of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but we have a special place in our hearts for Mac. Maybe it's because he's the only one of these sociopaths that might stand a chance of surviving out in the real world without getting arrested or killed (or worse), at least for, like, a week or so. Maybe because he's so ridiculously in denial about his recent weight gain, the result of his attempt at "cultivating mass." Or maybe it's because we'll probably never know his last name, and that's kind of cool. Whatever the reasons, here we give homage to the vain fool of the It's Always Sunny court.

Admittedly, there is something about a hockey stick that makes you want to use it as a weapon, whether or not you have any "training" or even "instincts," for that matter. Mac demonstrates just how much of a bull in a china shop he can really be, even when he's completely out in the open air with no one around to potentially hit with a big stick of wood except his best pal, Charlie.

What was that we said earlier about Mac being a bull in a china shop? Not even poor defenseless cars are safe from this guy when he's all worked up and wanting to show off -- this is the kind of behavior that comes from being at the gym, like, all the time. If you're ever stuck in the trunk of your (or anyone else's) car, hope that it isn't Mac who comes to your would-be rescue.

We love Mac's reaction to Charlie throwing a chair through a window (twice), a double-flourish that was probably a lot of fun for actor Charlie Day, if nothing else. But the real doozy in this scene is when Mac opens the door, grabs Sweet Dee by the face and pushes her back, presumably to the floor or against the opposite wall. You have to admit, sometimes this guy does have "instincts" and "training."

This is from the very first episode -- look at how young and cute Mac and Dennis are! And look at how Mac gets Dennis to do tequila shot after tequila shot, claiming he doesn't understand the proper order involving the salt, lime and shot itself. For the record, Mac: first you lick the salt, then you do the shot, then you suck on the lime. No, wait, first you do the shot... no... dammit, now we're confused. Where's Dennis when you need him?

Now that the tequila shots are out of the way, it's time to get down on the dance floor! Here Mac challenges Dennis to a dance-off and proceeds to intimidate his opponent by showing off his sweet moves. The scene's played for laughs, of course, but you have to admit, the guy's not half-bad when it comes to shaking a tailfeather. We certainly wouldn't accept the challenge -- unless it were already scripted that we would win.
(Episode 3.15, "The Gang Dances Their Asses Off")
