Gavin Strick is a charismatic high school outsider in the picturesque coastal town of Cradle Bay. Gavin and his pals U.V. and Rachel Wagner befriend the new kid in town, Steve Clark, and Gavin is quick to tell his new pal about his conspiracy theory involving the "good" kids in school, known as the Blue Ribbons. Gavin thinks something sinister is going on with the Blue Ribbon program, which is run by the school psychologist, Dr. Edgar Caldicott - something involving brainwashing and mind control, with a few nasty side effects like sudden violent outbursts and self-mutilation. Unfortunately, Gavin is soon "transformed" into a Blue Ribbon himself, and it's up to Steve and Rachel to make sure his investigations don't go to waste.
