Ripley crash lands on a prison planet, shaves her head and takes on the Dragon.
A criminally underrated and underappreciated mini-masterpiece of deep-space dread and despair, Alien3 really only suffers from just one thing: it had to be the movie that followed Aliens. Fans just weren't ready for such a bleak film following James Cameron's adrenaline rush of an action movie, though it's finally getting the second chance it deserves now that it's been released on DVD in a proper Collector's Edition - and now that director David Fincher is one of Hollywood's most respected A-list directors. The DVD contains two cuts of the film - the theatrical and the vastly different expanded version, which has such extreme differences as the Alien coming out of an ox rather than a dog. Make sure to revisit this poignant and truly nightmarish film if you haven't already.
David Fincher (director), Sigourney Weaver, Charles S. Dutton, Charles Dance, Lance Henriksen, Paul McGann, Brian Glover, Ralph Brown, Danny Webb, Holt McCallany, Christopher John Fields, Pete Postlethwaite.
