What Is It: The third Batman film directed by Christopher Nolan follows in the footsteps of the mega-successful Dark Knight and mind-bending blockbuster Inception, carrying over many of the cast members of that film into the new film. Joining Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman are Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selena Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard. Like his past films, Nolan is keeping things well under wraps, but the movie could involve a callback to Batman Begins, connecting the plot to Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Shadows. The first image of Bane has premiered through their viral campaign.
What to Expect at Comic-Con: The Dark Knight Comic-Con presence in 2007 featured a short teaser (the Batman logo and Joker voiceover), but was heavy on the viral games. Expect similar events this year. Nolan's in the middle of filming, but he'll throw fans a treat or two in the form of some viral marketing scavenger hunt that will lead to a new image or teaser. Why hand over the goods when you can make fans work for it?
