Review: GUNNAR Optiks MLG Legend Glasses

These gaming glasses are meant to enhance your performance and make you look cool. But do they work?

You won't like this if...

You need to get special prescription ones if you already wear glasses, the frames feel kind of cheap, no real advantage for console gamers

Sight and sound are the two most important senses when it comes to gaming, and digital performance eyewear designer GUNNAR Optiks have created glasses to enhance one without hindering the other. The official Major League Gaming licensed Legends glasses are both stylish -- with their aviator-inspired design -- as well as functional -- with their i-AMP lens technology.  They also include headset compatible temples that allow for you to wear your headphones and mic comfortably.

Without breaking down every single technical detail, the glasses have been engineered to amplify your gaming skills and reduce your retinal strain while you're gaming the night away at your PC. This particular model was co-designed by some of the MLG's top pros to be tailored to a gamer's specific needs, while incorporating GUNNAR's patent-pending technology, which has been proven to work for other professionals that spend long hours staring at computer screens.

As soon as you put the glasses on, you'll notice a difference at your PC, whether you're writing a paper or starting your next round of team deathmatch in Modern Warfare 2. The visuals on the screen are magnified just enough so it's noticeable, while retaining their clarity for comfort. Unfortunately, the same thing can't really be said for console gaming, since it seems like the fine details of the visual amplifications were lost in the distance.

While the overall quality of the frames could be improved for the price, there is a noticeable difference when you use them for PC gaming. The end result is going to really depend on the player, but if the glasses help you see that sniper one-half a second before he sees you, isn't that what really counts? That, and looking super stylish by the electric glow of your monitor around 3 A.M. as you clock your 1,000th kill for the night... just like the guys in the MLG.
