Eliss
Eliss was one of the few original iPhone and iPod Touch games to make the most of multitouch. The goal is to move, resize, and correctly position planets of like colors, while keeping different colors from touching. That's easier said than done, as the planets quickly multiply and push you into hand-cramp territory. Try playing Eliss on the iPad with a friend's extra pair of hands, and delegate specific colors or quadrants of the screen to each other. It's probably the only way you will ever finish the game.
ZombieSmash
The best castle defense game on the App Store makes its mark not by replacing invading knights with zombies, but by moving you from the fortified castle to a rickety little house that sits alone in a field, completely open to zombie charges from both sides. Sit side-by-side with a friend to calmly take stock of your stockpile of explosives, and address the hordes with tactical grace rather than the usual manic imprecision.
Levers
Balance is hard. You have bowling balls and snowmen and submarines falling from above, and you're supposed to keep them above the water line by distributing their weight across a network of clothes hangers. Share this calm yet infuriating diversion with two, three or more minds on the iPad, all equally focused on shifting and rebalancing objects until everyone leaves dry and happy.
Radio Flare REDUX
The 2D Rez-like differs from its inspiration in a more significant way than perspective: It splits your attention between navigating the ship on the left and eliminating targets on the right. Studio Radiolaris' new sequel steps up the game in a major way by upping the difficulty and adding bosses. There's more than one way to sync with the beat of the game: Have a friend draw patterns through enemy ships while you fly circles around them, or vice versa.
