The release of the next Halo game Halo: Reach might seem too far away for fans, but until then, we've at least got Halo Legends.

The Bungie-sanctioned DVD is an all-new anthology of seven Halo stories -- "Origins," "The Homecoming," "The Babysitter," "The Package," "The Duel," "The Prototype," "Odd One Out" -- that expand the Halo universe in the style of The Animatrix for The Matrix. Each episode features a take on the origin and history of Halo and its characters by a renowned Japanese anime director/animator, including Shinji Aramaki, Mamoru Oshii, Hideki Futamura, Tomoki Kyoda and Yasushi Muraki. 

We've got an exclusive clip from one of the stories directed by Shinji Aramaki called "The Package." Here, we see the squadron captain briefing a group of Spartans -- led by Master Chief -- on a top-secret mission to infiltrate a Covenant fleet and retrieve a "high-priority package."

"Our story for 'The Package' fits neatly," said Halo franchise development director Frank O'Connor in a press release. "Fans want to see more about the Spartans, and they wanted to see them fighting in a group. Normally you see one Spartan in battle. The question came up, 'What happens when you have that force multiplier?'"

Halo Legends will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on February 16th. Watch the clip below, then check out these exclusive screenshots.
