Comfortable Shoes

This one has been said to death by now, but it bears repeating -- especially when it comes to Comic-Con, because the show is effin' massive! We're talking miles and miles of seemingly endless geek culture. So while you might want to rock that new pair of designer Nikes or those riot boots, it's best to stick with some well-cushioned and well-worn sneakers. After all, you'll be surrounded by your fellow nerds -- it's not like you're gonna be wooing Mary Elizabeth Winstead based on your super-fly fashion sense (sorry to be the ones to break it to ya!).

Don't Forget Your Camera

Anyone who's anyone in the world of pop culture will be at Comic-Con 2010 -- from celebrities to comic creators and every imaginable cosplay character in between. That said, there's literally a photo op at every turn, and you won't want to be smacking your head for forgetting a camera when you see a [fill in the blank] Stormtrooper or run into your favorite celebrity while they're doing their best to stay inconspicuous as they rifle through the back issue bins (but always remember to be respectful -- we'll get to that point in a bit). So remember your camera, make sure the batteries are charged, and get a big ass memory card, cuz you're gonna need it!

Pack Some Snacks

Between perusing the show floor, signings, panels and every other awesome thing SDCC has to offer, you'll quickly realize that time has a tendency to run away from you. As any veteran of the convention circuit will agree, it's always a smart move to pack some snacks (the healthier, the better) and some water -- otherwise, there's a good chance you'll be dropping $15 for a Snickers/Poland Spring combo pack on the show floor, and we all know there's way better things to drop $15 on at a comic convention (granted, Snickers are a tasty treat, but still...).

Stay Current

If there's one thing that Comic-Con is known for, it's big, breaking news from movies, television and, of course, comics. Unfortunately, with so many pop culture peddlers pushing their wares at panels, there's no way you'll be able to keep up with the breakneck pace of major announcements. Luckily, the internet will be there for you (and since we're on that topic, be sure to check in with UGO throughout the weekend for the latest news as it happens), and there's no better way to keep up than with the smartphone of your choice.
