Blu-sday: I See Blue People - Avatar, Transformers, More!

Furries, slather on some blue body paint and ready your ponytail genitals. Avatar’s coming to DVD! Set for release on Earth Day, April 22, the highest grossing movie in history is finally coming to Blu-ray. Now don’t get your loincloths in a wad, because this DVD won’t be in 3-D. Aaaaand it won’t have any special features. Aaaaand it’s holding your tax return hostage. Okay, that last part’s not true, but the other stuff is. You’ll have to wait until November to get a 2-D Avatar with special features, and you’ll have to wait till 2011 to get it all in 3-D. (The movie, probably not the special features.) But this movie was so full of immense action and immersive cinematography without the 3-D that isn’t it worth it to pony up your hard-earned cash for Twentieth Century Fox now?

Drawn Together was Comedy Central’s raunchy, animated answer to all the damned reality TV shows that were flooding your cable box in 2004. Well the show ran its course and was canceled in 2007, but the movie that’s just been made for straight-to-DVD picks up where the show left off and gives us the bawdy conclusion we all demanded! Oh, and since this is on DVD and not on cable, all the curse words don’t get edited out. Wonder what else doesn’t get edited out...  (And check out our exclusive clip from the DVD right here!)

The movie based on a Philip K. Dick short story that almost became the sequel to Total Recall but eventually became a surprising Tom Cruise thinker-thriller (WHEW!) is finally out on Blu-ray. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie tells the story of Precrime, a Washington, D.C. police division that uses telepaths to predict murders, thereby stopping the murders and incarcerating the would-be killers before they even get a chance to draw blood. It’s a rollercoaster ride for your brain-mush, to be sure, but it’s a helluva beautiful movie and worth it just to watch the fight sequence between Cruise and costar Colin Farrell in the all-robotic Lexus factory...that’s apparently in the middle of downtown D.C.

Director Peter Jackson shows us a strange and terrifying world surrounding one 14-year-old girl’s murder. In a role that Stanley Tucci was afraid to play but that won him an Academy Award, we’re taken on a surreal thrill ride into the mind of a killer and how a girl tries to solve her own murder from beyond the grave. Watch this with a lady-friend, fellas, but be aware that you’ll both be scared to tears.
