Oh, Canada! That wonderful neighbor to the north is one of the world's most consistent exporters of top-notch professional wrestling talent. Not only does the rank dungeon of Stu Hart train grapplers who take to the mat with unprecedented fire and realism, many other workers and trainers call Canada home. One of the biggest stars to come out of the land of the maple leaf in recent years has been Edge, the Rated R Superstar who has become one of the most hated heels on WWE TV. His in-ring career has spanned sixteen years, from his unlikely start in the Canadian indy scene to his rise to prominence first in a tag team and then as a singles star. In this feature, we move chronologically through his path to stardom, highlighting eleven of the pivotal events in Edge's life. Let's get to it.

After Edge's return, he would rack up another tag title reign with Chris Benoit as his partner, as well as nabbing the IC title from Randy Orton for another reign. However, some long-hidden character traits began to surface, as he started cheating to win and developed an obsession with winning the World Title. In 2004, Edge returned from a groin injury as a full-on heel, barely able to restrain himself from brutally injuring his competitors in his monomaniacal chase for the big belt. He feuded with Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels in his unsuccessful quest, but the fans really began to hate him as a result of his real-life relationship with Lita, who had left fan favorite Matt Hardy in her wake to take up with the rising star. The pair would engage in one of the most heated feuds of 2005, with brutal matches that saw excessive bloodloss and ref stoppages, both unusual for pro wrestling.
