Diabolical Plans - in 3D!

Matt Patches: Should people expect big action set pieces or is it mostly neurotic comedy? I know when you put Steve Carell in a room and you let him start going, there could be a lot of banter.

Cinco Paul: It's a great mix because you have these great chase scenes, battles, gadgets, weapons and vehicles. That was a lot of fun to do knowing that it was going to be in 3D. It was just a way to push that stuff even further. Then you have the neurotic comedy of Steve Carrell and then you have these tender moments with a guy, and these little girls.

Matt Patches: Was it written with the intention of 3D?

Ken Daurio: Yeah, definitely.

Matt Patches: Does that affect your writing style? Are things going to be popping out of us or...

Cinco Paul: Hopefully not! Hopefully things won't be popping out of you.

Matt Patches: Yes, we wouldn't want any injuries.

Cinco Paul: No, there is a fine line. You don't want to do the cheesy stuff popping out at us just for the sake of showing that we're in 3D.

Ken Daurio: Like 1960s 3D.

Cinco Paul: Right, like "here comes the baseball." You do want to take advantage. A lot of it was played out in the action sequences. It did get you thinking in a different way as in how to play with a space that is over an audiences head instead of side to side.
