Writer David Benioff (Troy, Wolverine) will write a biopic about Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain for Universal Pictures. At least some of the material that Benioff will use for his screenplay will come from Charles Cross' non-fiction account of Cobain, Heavier Than Heaven. As well Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, will serve as an executive producer on the movie.
The project is still in its infant stages of development so it's unclear how much (or any) of Nirvana's music will find its way into the picture. As well the question about how much involvement Courtney Love will have, and whether she would appear in the film since she's got acting cred, are up in the air right now. All that seems certain is that we'll get some kind of movie about Kurt Cobain and his troubled life which ended as a result of suicide in 1994. Back at the start of the year a story surfaced that Love's first choice to play her late husband was none other than Ewan McGregor.
