Will Smith Circles Men in Black 3 and City that Sailed

Remember the time when Hollywood was churning out three or four new Will Smith movies every week? Of course, those were the days before performer Will Smith - which is to say, the star of many an action and sci-fi blockbuster - transformed into actor Will Smith, whose choice of roles post Oscar-grab had to be somewhat more considered.  And if it feels like it's been awhile since we've seen Smith on the big-screen, rest assured that he's carefully mulling his next project...

According to Variety, Smith will either star in Andrew Niccol's fantasy-drama City that Sailed or sign aboard the third Men in Black film. According to the publication, City that Sailed "revolves around a New York street magician who is unhappily separated from his young daughter. The girl, who moves to London, finds magic candles that make her wishes comes true, with unintended consequences: The island of Manhattan separates from the continent and floats toward England, bringing her dad ever closer."

Men in Black 3, which is being written by Tropic Thunder's Etan Cohen, remains something of a mystery with recent rumors suggesting that there could be a time travel component to the film. But seeing as how the first two movies earned nearly a billion dollars combined, we'd be shocked if Smith didn't get around to the sequel eventually. It's safe to assume, however, that MiB3 is the kind of guaranteed green-light that Smith can put in his pocket for a rainy-day career slump.
