Once again, UGO is inviting folks in New York City area to an amazing movie-going event.
One of the coolest flicks I saw at this year's SXSW festival was the crime action/drama Viva Riva! It is the first movie produced in the Democratic Republic of Congo and it really sparkles.
It is a little bit like Scarface, but in an even more unique setting than 1980s Miami. Mixing politics, urban crime and the pulse of the African street, Viva Riva! is a wonderful look into a very underrepresented culture. In addition to being a slick story, there is some terrific music and, if you don't mind my saying, there are some very sensual moments that'll definitely fog up your glasses.
Take a look at my review from SXSW.
If you'd like to see a special screening of Viva Riva! tomorrow June 2 at the Cinema Village (22 East 12th St) at 7 pm with director Djo Tunda Wa Munga in attendence all you have to do is email Jordan@ugo.com with the subject line Viva Riva!
I've got 5 pairs of tickets to give away, and this is something you definitely want to catch.
If you are still on the fence, check out the trailer.
