Tron Legacy's Score to (Daft) Punk Wendy Carlos?

Will we hear Wendy Carlos' famous Tron score in Tron Legacy?

This weekend I saw the special IMAX screening of the Tron Legacy trailer, and then exploded in nerdvana with Matt Patches whilst discussing it.

Longtime friend of UGO Cybergosh had the good fortune to see it in Los Angeles, where they were treated to a Q & A with Tron creator Steve Lisberger and Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski - and they got to see the dang thing twice.  (We didn't see it twice in New York because it can take over 20 minutes to rewind an IMAX print of even just two minutes.  Luckily, the LA event had the Q & A to help vamp.)

Cybergosh is not a shy man and he bombarded Koskinski after the show, as his waving hand was not picked during the Q & A.  He asked Kosinski point blank if we'd hear Wendy Carlos' score to Tron worked into Daft Punk's new music.  The answer he got wasn't the "definitely" we were hoping for.

Kosinski didn't say no, but what he said was "they have all new music - all new Daft Punk music."

While I agree that Tron Legacy can't be two straight hours of fan service, I think it would be absurd not to include one of the most legendary synth scores in cinema.

There are ways to incorporate the old in with the new, and if you think I'm talking about how Michael Giacchino incorporated Alexander Courage's themes from the original Star Trek, you are absolutely right.

Let's conclude this conversation with a little bit of Wendy (when she was still Walter) Carlos' "Switched on Bach."
